Specific Item Information: These 65’ 100-Ton Log Cars are painted green with white lettering and ride on 100-Ton Trucks with 36” wheels. The cars were built by Evans Car Company in the 1980’s and found service with many companies transporting logs, pulpwood and other lumber products. Georgia-Pacific originally used horse drawn carriages in the 1920’s to transport logs, but with the use of log cars like these, has grown to be a leader in the production of tissue, pulp, paper, packaging and other building products

Prototype History: The skeleton car has been a staple in the logging industry since the early part of the century and has appeared on nearly every logging road in the country. Evans Products produced a 65 foot version with three bunks and a 100 ton capacity.

Road Name History: Georgia-Pacific LLC is an American pulp and paper company based in Atlanta, Georgia, and is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of tissue, pulp, paper, toilet and paper towel dispensers, packaging, building products and related chemicals. As of Fall 2010, the company employed more than 40,000 people at more than 300 locations in North America, South America and Europe. It is an independently operated and managed company of Koch Industries.

Manufacturer Information: Micro-Trains Line split off from Kadee Quality Products in 1990. Kadee Quality Products originally got involved in N-Scale by producing a scaled-down version of their successful HO Magne-Matic knuckle coupler system. This coupler was superior to the ubiquitous 'Rapido' style coupler due to two primary factors: superior realistic appearance and the ability to automatically uncouple when stopped over a magnet embedded in a section of track. The success of these couplers in N-Scale quickly translated to the production of trucks, wheels and in 1972 a release of ready-to-run box cars.

Micro-Trains Line Co. split off from Kadee in 1990 to form a completely independent company. For this reason, products from this company can appear with labels from both enterprises. Due to the nature of production idiosyncrasies and various random factors, the rolling stock from Micro-Trains can have all sorts of interesting variations in both their packaging as well as the products themselves. When acquiring an MTL product it is very important to understand these important production variations that can greatly enhance (or decrease) the value of your purchase.
