Company History: The CB was established in 1868 by the president of the adjoining Dutchess & Columbia Railroad to build a four mile railroad from a connection with the D&C in Old Hopewell, New York to an iron mine in Sylvan Lake. Another 4 miles of line was built to the iron smelter in Clove Valley. Business dried up before the turn of the century. The last CB train ran in 1897 and the railroad was officially abandoned the following year.
