This model is based on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Headquarters Building in Baltimore, Maryland that was built in 1906. This building was designed by Parker and Thomas of Boston and exemplifies the best Beaux-Arts styling. This model captures the dignified and monumental exterior, with beautiful carving and ornamental work replicating the craftsmanship of yesteryear. The model features nine stories (the prototype has 13 stories) but to increase the height, an additional add-on section, sold separately, is offered. This structure would enhance any city scene that would have been constructed in the period from 1905 through 1930 for both railroad and commercial use. The B&O and later Chessie System occupied the building until the creation of CSX Transportation at which time the railroad offices were gradually moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Currently The Hotel Monoco occupies the building.
Road Name History:
Commercial structures are any buildings or other man-made structures whose principal purpose is trade. These can be high-rise officer towers, gas stations or fruit stands. Any structure where end-user customers come to buy things from sellers of that product or service are consider commercial structures.

This group will therefore include quite large as well as quite small buildings. Models of these buildings might be kits or pre-assembled. They might be painted or undecorated. They might come with a host of accessories and figures or they might be fairly Spartan.
