Company History: The Maxhütte (MH), named after the Bavarian king Maximilian II Joseph, was a traditional steelworks and today is an industrial monument in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Bavaria, Germany. At its peak, the Maxhütte employed more than 9,000 people.
The Maxhütte had a substantial track system with their own locomotives.
After two bankruptcies, steel production was finally stopped on 24 September 2002.
Some assets of the company were taken over by the Max Aicher group and continue production under the name Rohrwerk Maxhütte.
