Prototype History: Back in the 1970s, as demand for clean-burning coal rapidly increased, Pullman-Standard introduced a coal gondola for unit train service. Widely used by BN and many private utilities, unit trains of these cars hauled coal from Wyoming to users throughout the country. Thousands were constructed in the mid to late 1970s and many are still used in maintenance-of-way service and by secondary owners for moving scrap metal and other materials.
The Pullman-Standard 4000 cuft gondola that was very common in coal service out West. A lot of them have ended up in secondhand scrap service all over the country.

Road Name History: The Burlington Northern Railroad (reporting mark BN) was a United States railroad. It was a product of a March 2, 1970, merger of four major railroads - the Great Northern Railway, Northern Pacific Railway, Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway and the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad - as well as a few small jointly owned subsidiaries owned by the four.
Burlington Northern operated between 1970 and 1996.
Its historical lineage begins in the earliest days of railroading with the chartering in 1848 of the Chicago and Aurora Railroad, a direct ancestor line of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, which lends Burlington to the names of various merger-produced successors.
Burlington Northern purchased the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway on December 31, 1996 to form the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (later renamed BNSF Railway), which was owned by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation.*

Brand/Importer Information: Fox Valley Models is a small supplier of
model railroad and related products. FVM
started by finding solutions to different
challenges that model railroaders were
faced with. Our first products resulted
from a need to equip custom built
passenger cars with tinted windows made
of an ideal material; thin, flexible, easy to
cut, simple to install, available in multiple
colors and be affordable. We met those
needs and even included a frosted
version for the car's lavatory windows.
Other challenges inspired additional products including wooden grade crossings, trestles and different lineside structures. As our product line expands, input and requests from friends and customers help shape the product selection further.
Future products, under development, include more parts, structures, details and rolling stock. We strive to offer a good quality product at an affordable price.
