Notes: Les Chants de Maldoror is an 1869 text 'rediscovered' in the 1930's and republished in 1934. Dali was invited to illusastrate the republished text. The individual images are unsigned. 200 copies of the book were announced (according to the Museum of Modern Art in New York). MoMA asserts that 100 were printed, but other sources stated only 60 copies were produced.
