Transportation Company - Decatur Junction - Railroad

Company History: This line launched in 1993 under the Pioneer Railcorp family of shortlines to be the designated operator of a 38 mile line from Cisco, Illinois south through Decatur and on to Assumption. Eight miles of the route, specifically in the Decatur area, is on trackage rights of Canadian National’s Illinois Central subsidiary. Traffic included grain, fertilizer and plastics. In 2016, DJ was replaced as operator on the Cisco to Decatur segment by the newly formed Decatur Central Railroad although they continue to operate the line from Decatur to Assumption. Like the other lines in the Pioneer Railcorp group, Decatur Junction is now part of the Patriot Rail shortline group.
