Transportation Company - Cowlitz Chehalis & Cascade - Railroad

Company History: The CC&C was born in 1916 from the reorganization of the Washington Electric Railway. The WER had linked Chehalis and Centralia, Washington. Much of the WER was abandoned but CC&C took over operation from Chehalis, Washington 32 miles east to East Winston by way of Onalaska. The timber business dominated the freight traffic with two round trips per day consisting of 25 to 30 cars each. Passengers were carried in a gas powered rail bus. When logging ended in 1955, the railroad closed. All three steam locomotives were donated to parks in the area and one, number 15, a 2-8-2 is in operation today on the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad tourist operation.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
