Company History: The CC&R was established in 1887 and within 3 years had a 65 mile line from McAlester to Wister, in Oklahoma Territory. Two years later, they had built a 26 mile line (unconnected from the first) from El Reno to Oklahoma City. The CC&R fell into bankruptcy on the heels of the Panic of 1893. It was reorganized the following year as the Choctaw Oklahoma & Gulf Railroad.
