Company History: The C&G was established in 1919 and ran from Andrews, North Carolina along the Valley River to Marble before turning south to Peachtree then east to Hayesville, a total distance of about 20 miles. Traffic was mostly timber. In 1922, the C&G merged with the Hiwassee Valley Railroad to form the Tennessee & North Carolina Railroad.
Successor/Parent History: The Carolina & Georgia merged with the Hiwassee Valley Railroad to form the Tennessee & North Carolina Railroad in either 1920 or 1922.
By the early 1930s, the western North Carolina forests had been largely depleted, and the railroad was no longer profitable. On July 12, 1937 the company filed for abandonment and the line was closed on January 1, 1938.
