Ed Austin moved from Minnesota to Lynden, WA with his family in 1887. In 1906, at age 23, he started hauling goods from the railroad station to local businesses with a wagon and a team of horses. He called his new business Lynden Transfer, and his wife Ethel handled the bookkeeping from their home in Lynden.
