Company History: The CVYR was established in 2000 when the Arkansas Midland threatened to abandon their 52 mile line between Gurdon and Bird Mill, Arkansas. Bean Lumber bought the line with the encouragement of the Surface Transportation Board and established the CVYR. About 5 years later, Bean Lumber sought to sell the railroad to the Pioneer shortline group. Arkansas Midland, part of the Pinsley group, objected stating that the sale agreement gave them the right to repurchase the line. In 2010, Bean Lumber closed their facility in Glenwood and that was it for the Caddo Valley Railroad. The line was severed at the Highway 57 crossing and Arkansas Midland resumed operation on the bit that remained.
