Company History: The BU-C was launched in 1922 to takeover a route between Glenn Springs and Union, South Carolina from the failed Union & Glenn Springs Railroad which had been operating in receivership for the previous 17 years. Traffic was provided by textile mills in Union and Buffalo. Maintenance was a slapdash affair and locals said BU-C stood for Busted Until Christmas. The BU-C closed in 1950 and Southern Railway acquired the segment between Union and Buffalo. Southern abandoned the line in 1971.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
