Company History: The Bristol Railroad opened in 1891 with a 6 mile line from New Haven Junction to Bristol, Vermont. Traffic was light and for the first 20 years, the line was powered with an 0-4-4T Forney. This was replaced with a small Doodlebug which ran until 1922. The Doodlebug was replaced with a former Southern 4-4-0 which ran until the line was abandoned in 1930. A local man, John S. Burt who rode the Bristol Railroad on opening day also rode the final train.
