Company History: The Botwood Railway was established in 1907 to move pulp (and later paper) from a mill in Grand Falls, Newfoundland to the port at Botwood. Returning trains carried kaolin, limestone, coal and fuel oil. Like the other railways of Newfoundland, the Botwood was built to 42” gauge. For most of its history, locomotives and rolling stock were lettered for the parent company Anglo-Newfoundland Development Company. In 1956, the Botwood Railway was reorganized as the Grand Falls Central Railway.
