Company History: DTG Deutsche Touring GmbH is a German bus company based in Frankfurt am Main. The main business areas are international and national bus services.
The company was founded in 1948 and is the sole owner of Touring Bohemia (Czech Republic), Touring Croatia (Croatia), Touring Serbia (Serbia) and Eurolines Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway and Sweden). The company has been a member of the Eurolines association since 1985. A 40 percent stake in MootorReisi A.S. ("Eurolines Baltic") was sold to the majority owner in 2009..
Until 2005, DB Fernverkehr AG owned the majority of Deutsche Touring, but sold its shares because Deutsche Bahn AG no longer counted DTG's activities as part of its core business.A purchase price was not officially mentioned, but it was estimated at 30 million euros. This sale was also accompanied by criticism, since it was suspected that DTG could now increasingly compete with the railways. In fact, DTG had been in a legal dispute with Deutsche Bahn since 2005 about the introduction of a long-distance bus line from Frankfurt to Cologne and Dortmund, which was decided in June 2010 in principle in favor of Deutsche Touring. In July 2010, the DTG announced that by 2011 at the latest, together with partner companies, they would set up a comprehensive bus network between major German cities with scheduled services.
Since December 31, 2016, Eurolines Scandinavia ApS has been a subsidiary of Rødbillet salg ApS] and is no longer part of the Eurolines network.
On March 27, 2017, Deutsche Touring filed for bankruptcy In August 2017, Deutsche Touring was taken over by long-term partner CroatiaBus, a subsidiary of the Globtour Group. From Wikipedia
