Company History: WESTbus GmbH was founded in Vienna in 2011 as a joint venture between Blaguss Reisen GmbH and Rail Holding AG, the parent company of WESTbahn. The idea behind the foundation was to enrich the long-distance transport offer in Austria where the availability of public transport connections is not sufficient. The company currently connects the cities of Vienna, Klagenfurt, Graz and Linz with the Austrian long-distance bus – also with the Central European destinations of Prague, Budweis, Bratislava, Budapest, Zagreb, Dresden and Berlin. When choosing the respective stops, special attention was paid to good transport connections. The WESTbus stops directly or near the main train station or the central bus station (ZOB) or travels to public transport hubs. The long-distance buses are equipped with toilets and vending machines and offer free WiFi and sockets on site. The company also sells inexpensive annual tickets for frequent drivers. If you book your ticket online, you can also look forward to a free seat reservation.
Brief History: Austria is a German-speaking country in Central Europe, characterized by mountain villages, baroque architecture, Imperial history and rugged Alpine terrain. Vienna, its Danube River capital, is home to the Schönbrunn and Hofburg palaces. It has counted Mozart, Strauss and Freud among its residents. The country’s other notable regions include the northern Bohemian Forest, Traunsee Lake and eastern hillside vineyards.
