Bogalusa Bayou

Company History: BBAY was launched in 2014 by the Watco shortline group to serve 6 miles of track serving the paper industry in Bogalusa, Louisiana in the region north of New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain. Connections are with Canadian National. In 2021, Watco purchased the Geaux Geaux Railroad and merged it into the Bogalusa Bayou. Geaux Geaux was a 26 mile line connecting Baton Rouge with Slaughter and St. Francisville. The two lines do not connect but their fortunes are both tied to the paper industry.

Successor/Parent History: The Watco shortline group is known for painting locomotives in special schemes for universities and even high schools along their lines. We own or operate over 5,500 miles of short line track in North America and Australia. Our vast network connects to all Class I railroads.
