Company History: BFRwy was established by the principles behind the Wall-Spaulding Lumber Company (established around 1895) and ran 21 miles of line in Waupaca County, Wisconsin. It ran from a connection with Chicago & North Western’s Ashland Division in Hunting south six miles to Big Falls then west ten miles to Comet, plus a five mile branch. The route as far as Big Falls was leased from C&NW. Officially a common carrier, the vast majority of traffic on the BFRwy consisted of logs for the Wall-Spaulding mill. The BFRwy fleet included a single 4-4-0 and 40 log cars. The sawmill and the Big Falls Railway closed in 1920.
