Company History: The BSSRwy was built in 1908 with a line from the corner of Twelfth and Main in Green Bay, Wisconsin to a summer resort and amusement park called Bay View Beach just outside of town. Streetcar service was hourly and cars connected with Green Bay Traction Company. In 1923, Bay Shore Street Railway was sold and merged into Wisconsin Public Service who had already acquired Green Bay Traction Company 12 years before.
Successor/Parent History: Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPS) is a utility company headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The company serves more than 450,000 electric customers and more than 333,000 natural gas customers in 27 counties in eastern, northeastern northern, and central Wisconsin, and a small portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. WPS began in 1883 as the Oshkosh Gas Light Company. It was incorporated as Wisconsin Public Service in 1922. And it was first listed on the New York and Midwest stock exchanges in 1953. In 1994, WPS became a subsidiary of WPS Resources Corporation, an energy holding company. In 2007, WPS Resources Corporation and Peoples Energy Corp. merged to form Integrys Energy Group. In 2015, Integrys Energy Group was acquired by Wisconsin Energy Corp. forming WEC Energy Group.
