Company History: The A&StL was built by St. Lawrence Pyrites Company in 1906 between KeKalb Junction, where they connected with the Rome Watertown & Ogdensburg Railroad, and the company’s mine in Hermon, in northern New York, a distance of four miles. The mine and railroad competed directly with the mine and railroad of Clifton Iron Company. Traffic was modest but they did manage to run four round trips per day, 6 days per week with a single run on Sundays. In 1925, the railroad was closed and abandoned.
