Company History: The TXGN was established in 1992 by the TNW Corporation shortline group to purchase the 12 mile former Southern Pacific line from Harwood to Gonzales, Texas. This area is less than an hour’s drive east of San Antonio. Traffic, which amounts to between 40 and 50 cars per day, includes crude oil, animal feed, grain, bentonite, and fabricated steel. Connections are with Union Pacific at Harwood.
Successor/Parent History: TNW Corporation was established in 1982 as a holding company of Dallas-based Murchison Capital Partners, L.P. (MCP), and began operations at the Texas North Western Railway (TXNW) by acquiring a piece of the bankrupt Rock Island’s track from Etter, Texas, to Liberal, Kansas – approximately 120 miles. In 1992, the Texas Gonzales and Northern Railway (TXGN) became TNW’s second acquisition as a lease from the UP (Southern Pacific at that time).
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
