Company History: TXR was launched in 1998 by the TNW Corporation shortline group to takeover 6 miles of industrial spurs on the south side of Brownsville, Texas from BNSF. Later acquisitions expanded TXR to 13 miles. Customers include a Vulcan Materials limestone quarry, a Phillips-Chevron facility, Kohler Company who ships clay, sand and lime, Wright Asphalt who ships rubber emulsion and VRC Industries who ships farm chemicals. The roster has included two GP38’s, two GP7’s, a GP9, two CF7’s and a pair of SD40-3’s which now pull the heavy unit stone trains.
Successor/Parent History: TNW Corporation was established in 1982 as a holding company of Dallas-based Murchison Capital Partners, L.P. (MCP), and began operations at the Texas North Western Railway (TXNW) by acquiring a piece of the bankrupt Rock Island’s track from Etter, Texas, to Liberal, Kansas – approximately 120 miles. In 1992, the Texas Gonzales and Northern Railway (TXGN) became TNW’s second acquisition as a lease from the UP (Southern Pacific at that time).
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
