Southern Switching

Company History: SSC was launched in 1997 by the Iron Horse Resources shortline group to switch nine miles of industrial trackage in Abilene, Texas. Traffic includes corn sweetener, feed, fertilizer, grain, lumber, oil and scrap. They are working to attract wind mill component traffic as well gas and oil drilling material business. They recently acquired 680 acres of land in Big Spring (west of Abilene) for a new rail-served industrial park.

Successor/Parent History: Since 2002 a growing base of clients across North America has relied on Iron Horse Logistics Group to provide solutions to create that elusive success. Rail transportation continues its remarkable comeback increasingly taking share off the highways, while many shippers have learned the benefits of historically the most cost effective way to move their products- barging on the inland waterway system.
