Company History: STCo. was the result of the 1934 reorganization of Scranton Railway that had been a part of the spectacular collapse of Samuel Insull’s traction and utility empire in 1932. By the time of the reorganization, Scranton Railway had already shed their suburban lines to Duryea, Pittston and other suburban communities around Scranton, Pennsylvania. Over the years, more routes were gradually replaced with buses. The last streetcar ran in 1954.
