Company History: a.k.a. Chemin de fer de la Rivière Romaine.
The CFRR opened in 1949 running from the St. Lawrence River docks at Havre-Saint-Pierre, Quebec to the huge ilmenite (titanium ore) mine at Lac-Allard 27 miles away. In addition to ore trains, CFRR runs passenger service for the benefit of mine employees. The railroad is owned by QIT-Fer et Titane (Quebec Iron & Titanium) which itself is a subsidiary of Rio Tinto. Like their neighbors to the west Cartier Railway and Quebec North Shore & Labrador, CFRR is not connected to the North American rail network and new rolling stock must be delivered by ship. A trio of GP9’s and an MP15 work the line.
Brief History: Canada is a North American country stretching from the U.S. in the south to the Arctic Circle in the north. Major cities include massive Toronto, west coast film centre Vancouver, French-speaking Montréal and Québec City, and capital city Ottawa. Canada's vast swaths of wilderness include lake-filled Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains. It's also home to Niagara Falls, a famous group of massive waterfalls.
