Company History: The PTRC was the result of the 1965 renaming of the Northern Pacific Terminal Company and serves as a neutral terminal and switching line at Guilds Lake Yard in the northwest corner of Portland, Oregon. As of 1965, ownership was split 40-40-20 between Union Pacific, Northern Pacific and Southern Pacific. Today, UP holds a 60% stake and BNSF 40%. PTRC had been a haven for Alco switchers with S2’s, S4’s and T6’s working the line. Photo coverage of the PTRC diesel fleet abruptly ends in 2010 implying that the remaining units were retired and replaced with power from parents UP and BNSF.
