Company History: PAM was born in 1899 from a three-way merger between North Shore Terminal Railroad, McKees Rocks Railroad and the Pittsburgh & Allegheny Railroad. Despite the grand name, PAM serves just 5 miles of track in an industrial park in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. The original connections were with the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie, the Pittsburgh Chartiers & Youghiogheny, and the Baltimore & Ohio. The B&O connection was actually via a car ferry operation over the Ohio River. The car ferry operation was short-lived. Today the connections are with CSX and Pittsburgh & Ohio Central.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
