Company History: The PVRR was launched in 1982 by the Pinsley Railroad shortline group to acquire 27 miles of former New Haven line connecting Westfield, Easthampton and Holyoke, Massachusetts from Conrail. They later acquired a 3 mile branch to Mount Tom from Boston & Maine. Traffic includes lumber, manufactured goods, plastics and traprock. The PVRR was not the first railroad in the Pinsley Railroad group (that would be the Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington which Sam Pinsley bought in 1938) but it is the last. The other 15 shortlines owned by Pinsley since 1938 have been sold to other shortline groups or abandoned.

Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
