Transportation Company - Ontario Midland - Railroad

Company History: OMID was launched in 1979 by the Rail Management Services shortline group to operate two intersecting lines owned by Wayne and Monroe Counties in the state of New York. The former Pennsylvania Railroad line runs from Newark (New York not New Jersey) 15 miles north to Sodus Point on Lake Ontario. The former New York Central line runs 42 miles from West Webster to Red Creek. Rail Management Services marketed their shortlines together as the “Ontario Lines.” In 1993, OMID split off from the Ontario Lines to go it alone. Since startup, about 10 miles of line has been trimmed off. Today’s OMID locomotive fleet is all-Alco, including an S-4, an RS-11 and an RS-36. OMID serves the following customers: Cadbury Schweppes, Fleischmann’s Vinegar, Heluva Good Cheese, KM Davies Storage, Maco Bag, Northern Biodiesel, Sodus Cold Storage, Thatcher Chemical, Xerox, Rochester Gas & Electric, Stanton Ag Service, JT Storage plus two team tracks.
Successor/Parent History: A shortline group.
