Company History: NHCR opened in 1993 to reintroduce service to the abandoned Maine Central line between North Stratford and Colebrook, New Hampshire. Traffic in these early days consisted of ballast, pipe and veneer logs. They expanded their service with a contract car and locomotive service shop and bulk oil terminal. In 2001, NHCR took over as designated operator of the former Boston & Maine line from Groveton to Littleton and the former Maine Central line between Whitefield, New Hampshire and Gilman, Vermont.
