Company History: The NTZR operates the 65 mile former Illinois Central route between Natchez and Brookhaven, Mississippi. The route includes 25 wooden bridges. An upgrading project was begun in 2019 to increase the loading on these bridges to handle today’s heavier cars. The locomotive roster includes two GP38-2’s, two GP40-2’s, a B30-7 and a B30-7AB. Traffic consists of forest products, petroleum products and freight cars for repair. They are a subsidiary of V&S Railway.
Successor/Parent History: The V&S Railway owns and operates two different shortline railroads in the State of Kansas.
The Medicine Lodge Division extends from Medicine Lodge, KS to Attica, KS. The freight traffic consists of frac sand, wall board and plaster.
The Hutchinson Division is located wholly within the City of Hutchinson, Kansas, as handles movements of salt, scrap metal and repaired cars.
