Company History: The 22 mile KSRY was established in 1998 to be the designated operator of the state owned, former Illinois Central line between Aberdeen Junction and Kosciusko, Mississippi. There was a bit of business from the timber industry early on, but before long KSRY settled into the quiet business of storing surplus freight cars on their line. There was talk of signing up a couple of new customers for rail service but in 2011, a bridge problem on KSRY’s sole connection the Grenada Railway caused the route to be embargoed. This isolated the KSRY from the rest of the nation’s rail network. In 2014, the remaining stored railcars were scrapped and KSRY closed their doors.
