Company History: The LUN appeared in 1901 with the sale and reorganization of the Epworth League Railway running less than 3 miles of line between Ludington and Epworth, Michigan. Originally, they hauled tourists to Ludington State Park in open sided coaches behind a steam dummy. In 1936, Sargent Sand Company opened a large sand quarry on the line. They later bought the railroad. In 1982, the quarry closed and so did the Ludington & Northern.
