Company History:
The KLSC opened in 1987 with the purchase from CSX of the 14 mile line between Hartford and Paw Paw, Michigan. This was a former Pere Marquette route although this segment had been part of the original Kalamazoo Lake Shore & Chicago early in the 20th century. The new railroad provided freight service and hosted the Star Clipper dinner train. The company fell into bankruptcy and closed in 1995. Operation of the route was taken over by the West Michigan Railroad.
