Company History: The EWG ran 108 miles of former Northern Pacific route from a connection with BNSF in Cheney, Washington west to Coulee City. The line was leased from the Washington State Department of Transportation. EWS took over the route in 2007 from the previous operator Palouse River & Coulee City. In November of 2018, EWG pulled the plug and operation of this route was assumed by the new Washington Eastern Railroad.
