Company History: The FSR launched in 1991 as a spin-off from Union Pacific, operating the former Missouri Pacific line between Fort Smith and Paris, Arkansas, a distance of 47 miles. The Paris end was cut back to Fort Chaffee in 1995, leaving just 18 miles of line. Traffic includes alcohol, charcoal, finished steel, food products, grain, lumber, military equipment, paper products, peanuts, and scrap. A GP20 and GP16 work the line. FSR is in the Pioneer Railcorp family of shortlines.
