Company History: FCEN was launched in 1986 as a spin-off from Seaboard System. The 68 miles of former Seaboard Air Line and Atlantic Coast Line trackage runs from Orlando, Florida north to Umatilla with branches from Tavares to Sorrento and Toronto to Winter Garden. The Toronto to Orlando segment was leased from CSX in 1990. The line is part of The Pinsly Group which owns this line, the Florida Northern, the Florida Midland and Pioneer Valley railroads.
FCEN’s diesel fleet features seven CF7’s, three GP7u’s, a GP9, a GP9Em and a GP9Rm. Traffic on the Florida Central includes processed food, fertilizer, limestone, chemicals, and this being Florida, citrus.
