Transportation Company - De Queen & Eastern - Railroad

Company History: The DQE was chartered in 1900 but their 45 mile line opened in 4 stages spread over 57 years. They connect Perkins and De Queen, Arkansas with West Line on the Oklahoma border. At West Line, they connect with their sister railroad Texas Oklahoma & Eastern. The TO&E and DQE are operated together. Traffic is primarily forest products and for many years they were owned by Weyerhaeuser. Although the two lines are about the same length, less than a third of the combined locomotive fleet belongs to and is lettered for DQE (right now, just four units.) Late in 2010, Weyerhaeuser sold the DQE, TO&E and several other railroads to the Patriot Rail family of shortlines.
