Company History: The DC was built in 1904 by the Solvay Process Company on Zug Island in the Detroit, Michigan area. In addition to Solvay, the DC also served Detroit Edison, Detroit City Gas and Chicago Equipment with their 15 miles of track. Over the years ownership of the DC has passed to Allied Chemical, National Steel, U.S. Steel and then Transtar. In recent years, the DC has been handling about 700 cars in a typical week. The active roster as of 2019 includes a trio of SW1001’s, and an MP15DC.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
