Company History: In 1994, Indiana Hi-Rail was in serious financial trouble and attempted to reorganize by establishing a subsidiary, the Sagamore National Corp that then in turn established two railroad subsidiaries, the Wabash & Ohio Railroad (WOHO) and the Wabash & Erie Railroad (WAER) who would split up and take over operation of Indiana Hi-Rail’s routes. This arrangement lasted only a few months before the STB determined that there was a conflict of interest and demanded the railroad properties be returned to Indiana Hi-Rail proper.
