Company History: This line runs 17 miles from the Cumberland coal mine near Waynesburg, Pennsylvania and a barge dock on the Monongahela River. The railroad was a subsidiary of United States Steel and was later sold to Foundation Coal. They used one or both of their SD38-2s (often one at each end of the train) to pull trains up to 39 hopper cars long. The Cumberland Mine Railroad is not connected to the North American rail network and new rolling stock must be trucked in.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
