Mechanism Info: This movement is officially called the ETA C07.111. It is based on the ETA 2824-2. To achieve the large power reserve, it has 2 less jewels, some new parts that exhibit less friction, and the bph has been reduced from 28,800 to 21,600.
Tissot worked with ETA for the research and development of the Powermatic 80 movement. The ETA/Tissot Powermatic 80 Automatic caliber has 80 hours of power reserve. This is achieved through a new construction concept that integrates a new spring barrel. The movement is extremely precise and robust by means of augmentations to the regulator system. ETA removed the index-assembly system and replaced it with an innovative escapement that has no regulator. The rate is set at the factory with a laser, making the manual rate adjustments normally required by a mechanical watch unnecessary. The movement is entirely made of ARCAP, an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc with exceptional anti-magnetic qualities.
Many of these movements are sent to COSC for certification.
