Mechanism:
The Calibre 2130 replaced the older Calibre 2030 that had found success in earlier no-date models. When first introduced, the 2130 demonstrated the highest first time pass rate of any movement tested by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. At just 20mm in diameter and 5.83mm in height, the 29-jewel calibers still manage to provide a 42-hour power reserve. The automatic, self-winding movements beat at 28,800vph, the standard frequency of all modern Rolexes that provides the characteristic eight ticks a second smooth sweep of the seconds hand, as well as giving an increased shock protection. There is a hacking capability with this movement.

Powering a total of seven of the Oyster Perpetual series, it provided a wholly accurate and reliable movement for both 26mm and 31mm sizes.
Family Notes: In 1926, Hans Wilsdorf introduced the Oyster watch which used a waterproof case, hence the name. He added "Perpetual" to the name when in 1933 he introduced a reliable automatic self-winding watch. Hence the name means "Waterproof, Self-Winding" in Rolex-speak and generally means the watch is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters.
