Company History: CLNA was launched by the Rail Link shortline group in 1989 as a spin off from Norfolk Southern, operating a 17 mile route from Pinetown to Belhaven, North Carolina. Rail Link was acquired by Genesee & Wyoming in 1995. G&W sold the Carolina Coastal to Main Line Rail Management in 2003. In 2007, Carolina Coastal expanded massively when they leased from Norfolk Southern the line from Plymouth south to Pinetown, then west to Greenville, Wilson and finally Raleigh, North Carolina making today’s CLNA 159 miles long.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
