Company History: This line launched in 2000 to take over the Winifrede Railroad that had been inactive for some time. It runs from a junction with CSX along the Kanawha River to coal mines in the Winifrede, West Virginia area. It’s about 7 miles long. Loaded hoppers were either handed off to CSX or delivered to a barge loading operation on the Kanawha River but the barge loaders closed in 2013 and today, all coal loads are handed off to CSX.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
