Company History: The Warrenton Railroad was built in 1884 to link the town of Warrenton, North Carolina to a Seaboard Air Line predecessor mainline which passed through Warrenton Plains just 3 miles away. 101 years later in 1985, traffic from Warrenton had dried up. Seaboard System abandoned their former SAL line though Warrenton Plains leaving the WAR without their only connection. The Warrenton Railroad didn't even bother to file a "petition for abandonment." They just faded away.
