Company History: The Youngstown & Southern had been owned by the Montour Railroad (a busy Pennsylvania coal hauler) since the 20s. Traffic, mostly steel and brick, was light with just 2 switchers handling the traffic for many years. By 1992, control of the Y&S was in the hands of CSX. They leased it in 1993 to PL&W Railroad. More changing of hands, leases and failed attempts to abandon the line followed. Today this line is operated with some success as the Youngstown & Southeastern.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
