History: The Ford Deluxe and Super Deluxe were a series of full-size cars introduced for the 1941 model year. This new series of full size Fords, along with their entry level 'Special' variants, was offered in a wide range of body styles, such as sedan, coupe, convertible, sedan delivery, and station wagon. Whereas previous generations of full-size Fords had been offered exclusively with V8 engines, the Deluxe & Super Deluxe family saw the addition of a more economical 3.7L inline six unit alongside the established 3.6L and 3.9L V8 engines. Due to WW2, production was halted early in 1942. After the war, production resumed for 1946 with a mechanically identical model to 1942's offerings. The most notable post-war variant was the Ford Sportsman, a limited production wood panelled convertible. Ford built the Deluxe & Super Deluxe series of cars until 1948, when they introduced their new line, headed by the Ford Custom Deluxe. Ford also produced a range of Pre-War Pickups based on the full-size platform during these years, with these trucks becoming the F-Series in 1948.
