Stockton Terminal & Eastern

Company History: The ST&E was established in 1908 to build a line between Stockton and Jenny Lind, California. They built from Stockton as far as Bellota before running out of money and being foreclosed upon. The line was cut back to Linden, about 14 miles from Stockton, in the 1950s. In recent years, they acquired some former Southern Pacific trackage in the Stockton area, bringing the total mileage up to 25. In 2011, ST&E joined the OmniTRAX family of shortlines. Traffic includes farm products, asphalt, cement, chemicals, food products, lumber, and steel.
